Strip Mall No More – Peak Lifestyle Center Shaping Up

What’s New at Pikes Peak Lifestyle Center

Peak Lifestyle Center views

Break a sweat, cool down with drinks, and stay for the views. Do all of that and more at the Peak Lifestyle Center located at Academy Boulevard and Montebello Drive West on the northeast side of Colorado Springs. While this suburban stretch hasn’t had much in the way of attractions outside of retail shops and restaurants, that’s quickly changing thanks to the Keirnes Companies, a local & family-owned real estate development company.

Health and Wellness

The Keirnes Companies acquired Peak Lifestyle Center in 1998 and began the venture of turning yet another strip mall into something more than a hodgepodge of stores. The initial intention was for the tenants to reflect Colorado Springs’ love of athletic activity with the first flagship stores Colorado Ski & Golf and Bicycle Village in 2004. Over the years Colorado Ski & Golf became Epic Mountain Gear and other health and sports-related tenants arrived including Burn Bootcamp, House of Bounce, Northridge Dance Center, The Farm, and a karate studio.

Coffee, Brewery, and Events

As with any good fitness regime, you need some downtime to recover. Peak Lifestyle Center’s got you covered. Peak Place Coffee House opened in 2013 with roaster Hold Fast Coffee Co. directly behind. Peak Place has also recently expanded its drink menu to include beer and wine and hosts many wine pairing events. Along with the neighborhood coffee shop, there is now a neighborhood brewery. Lost Friend Brewing Co. opened this year featuring a variety of beers and daily food trucks. Almagre Venue + Bar, an urban industrial wedding and event location aptly named after the Ute Indians’ name for Pikes Peak, is currently under construction with an opening date of this summer.
